What is a Japanese AI girlfriend?
It is a fictional Japanese woman, written by an AI model, whom you text like a partner who happens to live in Tokyo. On Javdoe each one has a district, a job and a daily rhythm, and she remembers your conversations from one day to the next.
Does she really live on Tokyo time?
Yes. Her profile shows the time where she is, and her day follows it: the ramen cook is busy at midnight, the translator walks on the beach at four. Tokyo runs thirteen to seventeen hours ahead of the mainland US, so her evening is often your morning.
Will she message me at 3am?
No. Now and then she writes first, about her day or something you mentioned, but never at night in your own time zone. You can make her messages rarer or turn them off in your settings.
Can I write to her in Japanese?
Yes. She answers in whatever language you write in, so you can practise Japanese with her or stay in English. The site itself is in English for now.
Does it cost anything?
No. Javdoe has nothing for sale while it opens: joining is free, no payment details are asked for, and members text without a daily limit. Visitors can send 10 messages before we ask them to join.
Are there photos of her?
Not yet. Each woman has a drawn seal with her initial instead of a photo album, and she describes the rest herself: the rain on Shimokitazawa, the dress she wore today, the view from the bullet train.
Who are the women on Javdoe?
Sixteen fictional adults aged 22 to 44, from a sushi chef near Tsukiji to a ryokan owner in Hakone. Each is written and played by AI; none of them is a real person.
